Swatting the Green Hornet

As a fan of Seth Rogan and most of his other movies, like Super Bad, Funny People, and Knocked Up, I decided I would give the Green Hornet a shot although it did not receive very good write ups. Unfortunately the other reviews were 100% right in saying, in a more politically correct terms, this movie sucks. An adaptation of a 1960’s TV show where Britt Reid (Rogan), teams up with his dead fathers assistant, Kato (Chou) to fight crime by posing as the bad guys then taking them down. With Cameron Diaz acting as the 2nd co-star, the only bright part of this movie was the scenes where she smiles at the camera. Rogan was terrible for his part, especially because it was his job to carry the movie unlike his other works where he had co-stars who helped him do this. He took on the role of the “play boy” super hero and he could not pull it off. His apprentice in the movie, Kato, played by Jay Chou actually did not do a terrible job. He reminds me of a modern day Jackie Chan with his stunts and his humor, I just feel that though he was well suited for the part, Rogan did such a bad job that it made Chou look bad also. The bottom line is that Rogan does not belong in the super hero role and he is successful because the actors surrounding him in his other movies were good at what they do. Hornets are something most people run away from and the Green Hornet is no different.

  1. I can't believe that someone in the class went and saw this film.

You are far braver than I.
