Black Hawk Down Review Mike Krasnow

The movie, Black Hawk Down, is a high action war film that is based on a book and a true story. Although, there are not any well known actors in this film, it is still a wonderful movie. Black Hawk Down is a typical war movie with a lot of action, but the movie fails in letting the viewers get to know the characters. Although getting to know the characters is not really needed in order to enjoy the movie.
The movie takes place in Somalia in 1993, with the United States army going on a mission. Approximately one hundred soldiers are dropped down from black hawk helicopters. Unfortunately for the United States, multiple helicopters get shot down by rocket launchers, hence the title Black Hawk Down. The United States soldiers were unprepared for the mission taking so long, they thought they would be in and out in a half hour, but ended up being there for hours.
With no well known actors and not much dialog to get to know the actors in the film, the viewer does not feel a connection with the soldiers other than the fact that they are fighting for the United States.
Black Hawk Down is a very action packed war movie. Similar to most war movies, the audience is unable to get a connection with the characters due to the small amount of dialog. If you are a war movie fan then definately see this film, but if not then you will probably not like the movie that much. Overall, I give this movie 4.5 stars.
